Complete Guide to Riverside for Podcasting in 2025 (Beginner Friendly Software)

Hi Reader,

Three years ago, I had a client who spent two months getting ready to start her podcast.

She bought the mic. Set up her recording space. Even had her first five episodes planned out.

But she never hit record.

The editing software paralyzed her. Every tutorial she watched made it seem more complicated than it needed to be.

This is a major bottleneck that dozens of clients inevitably encounter.

I’ve found that editing is one of the biggest things that holds people back from starting or continuing their podcast.

Most people do not want to actually sit there and use complicated software.

This is exactly why I've been teaching Riverside to my clients for years now.

It's been the difference between people who actually start their podcast and people who stay stuck in preparation mode forever.

When Riverside partnered with Spotify, they really shifted. They had access to a lot more resources. There was this period where there were glitches and annoying things happening, but they have really come a long way.

Some of the tutorials I filmed years ago look completely different because the interface and features available now are completely different.

For 80% of use cases, you will be able to use Riverside alone as your main software. It's so stupid simple to operate vs something like Descript or Premiere Pro that takes a little bit more effort and upfront learning.

You record, edit, and promote your show all in one place.

The part that surprised me most?

Riverside now generates show notes, timestamps, clips automatically, and even key soundbites for thumbnail copy.

Stuff that used to be expensive.

The transcript feature alone - remember, this used to be expensive.

Even now with transcription technology, there's limits to how many hours you can use per month on a lot of plans.

With Riverside, anything you record inside of it generates that transcript for you for free.

I filmed a complete walkthrough showing you exactly how to use every feature you'll actually need. We're talking about what it's like for you to record, edit, and promote your show with Riverside alone.

One thing I'll say - once you and your guest are done recording, you and your guests need to leave your computer up for a little while. Everything that was being recorded locally is now being uploaded to the cloud.

There will be some cases where you or your guest close your laptop and move on to something else.

It's going to show in the dashboard later and there's a process for solving that if it happens. But just give your guest a heads up to keep their tab open for a bit after they exit the studio.

If editing has been the thing holding you back from starting your podcast, this changes everything. This removes the biggest barrier I see people face.

Your podcast is a forcing function for personal development. But only if you actually start it.

So I help this helps you move forward with building your own table with podcasting.

Habit Chess Newsletter 3 highlights to think on today: Reading is timeless tech: “The irony is that we can still read a manuscript patiently copied over ten centuries ago, but we can no longer watch a video or see the contents of a disc recorded just in the last few years, unless we keep all our successive computers and recording equipment in rooms full of junk in our homes, like a museum of obsolescence. Let’s not forget that the book has been our ally for centuries in a war that is absent...
